Over a year ago I felt a burden to write a song about the senseless suicide bombings.
I pondered for months about how to say what I was feeling in my heart. I wondered how to tastefully address this horriffic issue.
I worked out the chorus and sang it for months. Finally I found the verses.
I was wondering what to put in the bridge when I had the "Oh My God" moment. It was then... that I realized how close I once came to being one of "Them"!
We watched the evening news my son and I
I could tell my twelve year old had something on his mind
Finally he spoke up and asked me Dad
How could they bomb that bus and kill all those kids?
And I prayed God please help me know just what to tell my child
For heaven knows I've been askin' those same questions for awhile
As I tried to sort it out, these words came from my mouth...Son
You must love your children more than you hate your enemies
Love your children more than anything you believe
It's OK to live your life doing what you think is right and it won't be wrong
If you love your children more
We were walkin' down the street and saw the news
The paper said a man walked into the school
He took his gun and shattered all the dreams
Of the mothers and the dads all because of his beliefs
And I stood there and fought the tears 'cause others were nearby
Silently I thanked God my son was at my side
When we found a private place, I told him face to face... Son
You must love your children more than you hate your enemies
Love your children more than anything you believe
It's OK to live your life doing what you think is right and it won't be wrong
If you love your children more
Son I never told you this but once I almost killed a man
"Cause I believed his family could do better without him
And that man was me...
As I made my selfish plans... a voice within me...Said
You must love your children more than you hate who you may be
Love your children more than your own worst enemy
It's OK to live your life doing what you think is right and it won't be wrong
If you love your children more
It's OK to live your life doing what you think is right and it won't be wrong
If you love your children more
Every month or two I hope to be putting a new song up on this site. If you would like to receive an "announcement" email, when a new song is up, then type your name and email address in the box below. I promise, that I will not sell or give your address to anyone. My emails will be short, with a link to the webpage of my new song.
